ExitVerdict Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 26, 2026
Last updated: October 26, 2026
ExitVerdict ("ExitVerdict," "we," "us") is a place to share honest stories about leaving a company. It's operated by Grin and Bear It Tees, LLC, an Arizona-based company. This policy explains what information we collect through the ExitVerdict mobile app (iOS and Android, app ID com.exitverdict.app) and the website at exitverdict.com (together, the "Service"), what we do with it, and the choices you have.
The short version:
- Your stories are anonymous by default. Your name is only shown on a post if you choose to reveal it.
- We do see who you are behind the scenes. To keep stories credible, we verify employment using documents you upload. Those documents are kept in private storage and are only viewed by our reviewers.
- We don't sell your personal information.
- You can ask us to delete your account and data by emailing hello@exitverdict.com.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Email address. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. We use your email to create and secure your account and to contact you about it.
- Exit stories and related content. The text of your posts, the company you're writing about, and any other details you include (for example role, dates, or ratings, if the app asks for them).
- Your name (optional). If you choose to reveal your name on a post, we store it and display it with that post.
- Employment verification documents. Files you upload (PDFs or images), such as an offer letter, pay stub, or separation letter, to show you worked at the company you're writing about. These documents may contain personal information like your name, address, salary, or employee ID. Please redact anything that isn't needed to show you worked there (for example, bank details, Social Security numbers, or salary figures).
- Messages to us. If you email us, we keep the message and our reply.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Service, our servers receive standard technical information, such as IP address, device and operating system type, app version, and the date and time of requests. This is used to run, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.
We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers. If that changes, we'll update this policy first.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and secure your account, including sending sign-in codes.
- Verify your employment so posts on ExitVerdict are credible.
- Review, moderate, and publish your posts (posts may be held for review before they go live).
- Show your name on a post, only if you choose to reveal it.
- Respond to your messages and send important account or Service notices.
- Protect the Service and its users: prevent fraud, spam, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- Comply with the law and respond to valid legal process.
- Understand and improve how the Service works.
We do not use your verification documents for anything other than verification, handling disputes about a post, and meeting legal obligations.
3. What's public and what's private
| Information | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Published story text and the company named | Anyone using the Service |
| Your name on a post | Public only if you choose to reveal it |
| Your email address | Us (and our email provider, to deliver messages). Never shown publicly. |
| Verification documents | Us and our reviewers only. Never published. |
| Unpublished or held posts | Us and our reviewers only |
A note about anonymity: We work hard to keep anonymous posts anonymous, but the content of a story itself (specific dates, projects, team names, events) can make you identifiable to people who know the situation. Think about what details you include. Also, because we know which account wrote each post, we may be required to disclose that information if we receive a valid legal demand (see Section 4).
4. How we share information
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only in these cases:
- Service providers who help us run ExitVerdict, under contracts that limit their use of your data to providing services to us:
- Render – hosts our servers and API.
- Cloudflare (R2) – stores verification documents in private (non-public) storage.
- Resend – sends sign-in codes and other emails.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith it's required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or necessary to protect someone's safety or the rights of ExitVerdict or others. When the law allows and it's reasonable to do so, we'll try to notify you before disclosing your information in response to a legal demand so you have a chance to object.
- Business transfers. If ExitVerdict is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal. The new owner would remain bound by this policy for information collected under it, unless you agree otherwise.
- With your consent. For example, when you choose to reveal your name on a post.
5. How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above:
- Account information: while your account is active, and deleted within 30 days after you delete your account, except as noted below.
- Verification documents: deleted within 90 days after we make a verification decision (approved or declined). After that, we keep only a record that verification was completed (for example, that your account was verified for a particular company and when), not the document itself.
- Posts: until you delete them or your account, or we remove them.
- Server logs: up to 90 days.
- Exceptions: we may keep information longer if needed to comply with law, resolve disputes (including disputes about a post), prevent abuse, or enforce our Terms.
Backups may take additional time to fully clear.
6. Your choices and rights
- Name reveal: You decide whether your name appears on a post. Contact us if you want to switch a post back to anonymous.
- Edit or delete posts: You can delete your posts in the app, or email us at hello@exitverdict.com and we'll do it for you. Note that content may have already been seen, copied, or shared by others before deletion.
- Delete your account: You can delete your account directly in the app (in your account settings). If you can't access the app, email hello@exitverdict.com from the email address on your account and we'll delete it for you. Deleting your account deletes your posts and account data on the schedule in Section 5.
- Access and correction: You can ask for a copy of your personal information or ask us to correct it by emailing hello@exitverdict.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
- Emails: You can opt out of any non-essential emails. We'll still send messages needed to operate your account, like sign-in codes.
State privacy rights. Depending on where you live (for example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states), you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information or certain profiling. We don't sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, but you can still contact us to exercise any of these rights. We won't treat you differently for exercising them. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request, and if we deny your request you may appeal by replying to our decision.
7. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information. For example, verification documents are stored in private storage that isn't publicly accessible, and access is limited to people who need it to review submissions. Sign-in uses one-time codes, so there are no passwords to steal. No system is perfectly secure, though, and we can't guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we'll notify you as required by law.
8. Children
ExitVerdict is only for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Where your data is processed
ExitVerdict is operated from Arizona, in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the US, you understand your information will be transferred to the US.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service changes. If we make material changes, we'll let you know (for example, by email or a notice in the app) before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when this policy was last changed.
